There are several ways for students to get involved with the research we are doing in the VEL. Our work involves building virtual environments, working with human participants, cleaning and analyzing data, and conducting literature reviews. All of these require training.
If you have previous coding experience at the level of successful completion of CS2110, then you are eligible to apply for a position as a research assistant working on building virtual environments. If you do not have this experience, then you will need to sign up for an initial semester in which you will complete a series of tasks to demonstrate mastery of the necessary skills, and then will be assigned to coding projects in the second semester.
If you have previously worked with human participants, you will need to submit evidence of CITI training. You will also need to complete our lab-specific training.
Recruitment for the Fall 2025 semester has concluded. If you would like to receive the application for Spring 2026, the first step is to fill out this form! Once we receive your response, we will send you further information on how to apply!
